APS All Pro Science Grass Fed Whey Product Review

One months ago APS contacted me and asked if I was interested in reviewing their whey protein.  At first I was skeptical, but after reading the ingredients and seeing that it was 100% natural and grass fed I was eager to try it.

APS sent me a package of strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate flavor grass fed whey proteins for me to sample. I mixed each flavor with unsweetened almond milk.

I’m going to rate this product by stars.  5 being the most optimal and 1 being the absolute worst.

  1. Ingredients in APS Protein 5 stars
  2. Consistency of APS Protein 4 stars
  3. Flavor   3 stars

      Overall 4 stars.

This review is solely based on my opinion along with my students.  I've tried and tested several top notch grass fed whey protein powders.  With ingredients like this, I do highly suggest you give it a try and see if it's a fit for you. They do also offer vegan proteins, which I didn't have the opportunity to review.

Wild Planet Seafood Review

They have the lowest mercury fish.  They don’t add anything to the fish.

The Omega 3’s shown to be the highest compared to all the other brands. The taste is phenomenal.

Wild Planet reached out to me several weeks ago and asked me to try their wild canned seafood.  In all honestly I’m not a big fan of canned foods, especially when it comes to fish, since I like it fresh.  After trying Wild Planet Tuna, Albocore, and Salmon I can now sincerely tell you that I love it.

Overall I’d like to give Wild Planet 5 stars plus 2 thumbs up when it comes to a canned fish.
Here is a nice Fitness Release about them.

Wild Planet Fitness Release

Wild Planet’s sustainably sourced albacore contains an average of 3,350mg Omega 3 per can – including 2,200mg DHA and 750mg EPA.  This high level of Omega 3, an essential nutrient for muscle repair and recovery, is attainable because Wild Planet packs raw tuna steaks into the can before the cooking process, sealing in albacore’s nutritious natural juices.

Other brands of canned tuna are twice cooked. The tuna is first precooked, which depletes the fish of its natural Omega 3 rich juices and oils, and then cooked a second time when packed with water or vegetable oil. A once-cooked tuna like Wild Planet’s is vastly superior in nutritional potency by a factor of 4-6 in the case of Omega 3. With no water or oil to drain, Wild Planet also contains 42% more great tasting tuna by weight.

On a similar note, Wild Planet’s Alaska Salmon is included on Monterey Bay Aquarium’s new Super Green List, meaning it is not only classified as a Seafood Watch® ‘Best Choice,’ but also meets the daily minimum requirement for Omega 3. Both Wild Planet’s Alaska Pink and Sockeye salmon fillets (hand-packed, skinless and boneless, and with no water or oil added) are rich in Omega 3 and a great source of lean protein.

And then there’s the sardine, little in size but mighty in nutrients.  An excellent way to eat lower on the food chain, these true sardines (Sardinops sagax) are sustainably caught in the North Pacific ocean, and are  high in protein, loaded with calcium, phosphorus and iron, and provide an excellent source of Omega 3 and Coenzyme Q10.  Truly a nutritional powerhouse!

“We’ve seen a strong and growing response to our products from the fitness community,” shared Wild Planet founder Bill Carvalho. “These athletes are aware of the convenience and health benefits canned seafood provides and appreciate the difference in the quality of taste and quantity of nutrients Wild Planet offers in comparison to mainstream brands.”

While protein helps fitness-enthusiasts gain muscle and burn body fat, Omega 3 fatty acids from fish are found to have a positive effect on the metabolism of muscle proteins, promoting both repair and growth. For runners in particular, Omega 3 also works as an anti-inflammatory to help lubricate joints, making them function smoothly, with less pain and inflammation. The CoQ10 found in sardines is a natural energy booster, helping to maintain the stamina during exercise, and is a powerful antioxidant as well.

What Doctor's don't tell you after a C-section

I have now been through 2 C-sections since writing this blog post and thankfully I've recovered beautifully from both with the appropriate progressions. For those who are new and are just finding me. WELCOME! First let me say I did NOT want a C-section. I did everything in my power to avoid the first and even the second. I'm a kettlebell fitness strength and conditioning coach who relies on her body to share, teach, educate, and I was under the impression that having to give birth via C-section would and could destroy my body and career. Boy was I wrong! If you're feeing the same way, start by reading this article I wrote many years ago that still applies today! Many people have asked and here is part of my experience.  I don't claim to be a medical expert but not only have I successfully healed my C-section, my abdominals are no longer numb, and I've successfully helped others who've had multiple C-sections (even some 20 years ago) find their core aga
